The Office of Tourism Boutique
"the Office of Tourism Boutique – a real goldmine”
Originality and creativity for a new activity
When the boutique was inaugurated on November 18th 2003, the Office of Tourism of Troyes in Champagne wanted to display a certain originality and creativity by proposing to its 50,000 annual visitors a display of original, unusual, amusing products around such themes as the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, with an aspect of leisure and relaxation.
So there is a Mediaeval children’s game, there are tee-shirts for colouring, old fashioned crayons with natural colours, “Dame à la Licorne” paper napkins and there are products from the Museum of Craft Tools such as apron hooks, the carpenter’s pencil, along with stone reproductions of gargoyles and more modern objects such as an embroidered tee-shirt, a back-pack and a large umbrella, all carefully thought out, studied and considered to make this space attractive and aesthetic.
In Troyes, history is told through stone, wood and glass and can be experienced daily through its herringbone-timbered houses, remnants of the Middle Ages, and its private mansions from the Renaissance era.
In order to become more closely acquainted with the riches of the city, local artisans use their talents to increase and share the pleasure of the discovery of this exceptional heritage.
The Tourelle d’Orfèvre has gold and silver objects that take their inspiration from Troyes rich heritage, such as a minuscule Champagne cork, a souvenir not only of the region of which Troyes was capital in the Middle Ages but also of the unusual shape of the centre of the city, made in gilt or silver pendants; friezes of churches of Troyes become ornaments for gold- or silver-plated rings and the vine leaf is transformed into a solid silver key-ring.
Jewellery by J.P.Boissonet, exclusive creations
Since the beginning of 2004 the Office of Tourism boutique has expanded with a new and exclusive collection of unique objects. Each piece of jewellery is made by master jeweller Jean-Pierre Boissonet and is an original creation.
The Office of Tourism has chosen to highlight the elegance and look with a refined presentation pack for these pieces in a little, royal blue silk bag with a gold logo of the Office of Tourism.
LThe pendants are decorated with a black silk ribbon. A small printed ticket carries the explanation. The prices are most affordable at €12.50, €15 and €30. This allows everyone to take with them a small memento of our city.
